Modern boarding schools, such as Elstree, are no longer perceived as a withdrawing of family ties, but as an enriching educational experience with the boys themselves often initiating the transfer to boarding.
Under the direct care of the Housemaster or Housemistress, boarders at Elstree learn to as part of a distinctive community, to pursue a wealth of activities and interests, to establish independence, and to develop strong friendships, all within the friendly, supportive “home from home” environment created by our academic and care staff. Parents are encouraged to visit as often as they feel able whilst more flexible boarding arrangements are in place for our younger pupils. The Headmaster lives close by in the school grounds and is supported by the Houseparents, Assistant Housemaster and Housemistress, a Sister responsible for medical care, and two Matrons, who all live in the main school building. The Headmaster and his wife are fully involved in the boarding arrangements, seeing it as further vital time to get to know the pupils. |
