Silver Medals won
Elstree’s junior and senior judo teams returned with silver medals from a seven schools tournament organised by Colin Small at Cheam on Friday 13 November. Team supporters were delighted with their performances. The junior team (F Carey, H Weinberger, H Sims, D Tilling, A Groom) won their two matches against Moulsford and Pinewood, but lost to Brockhurst, who went on to become the junior gold medallists. The seniors (O Normand, J Adey, G Barton, S Telling, H Blackwell) won against Cothill but lost to Cheam, who were the senior champions. There was some fine judo; among the memorable moves were David Telling’s ippon, a text book throw and hold down by Hector Blackwell and Felix Carey won all his bouts. (Why did I remember that?!)
