£500 raised for young Afghan cricketers |
Elstree boys support the development of cricket in Afghanistan.
Ten Elstree cricket teams raised money by wearing special red caps emblazoned with the initials ACCC (Afghan Connection Cricket Club) in their matches against Summerfields. Elstree was pleased to raise £500 through both the cricket event and the church collection for the same week. The Afghan Cricket Team is helping to lay the foundations for the future of the game and team members will be holding cricket camps for young Afghans in various parts of Afghanistan. The camps are largely the brainchild of Alex Fane son of Dr Sarah Fane, the founder of the Afghan Connection Charity. Dr Fane was presented with the £500 cheque by her younger son Michael.
