Senior Choir sing at Oxford University
On Sunday 26th April the senior choir had a great afternoon in Oxford.

They took part in a choral evensong with Wadham College choir under the guidance of Katie Pardee the choral director. The choir sang a service setting by Dyson in D, responses by Tomkins and the anthem Ave Verum by Mozart. The service was based around ‘Favourites’. Daniel and Sandra spoke about ‘Abide with Me’ in the sermon which is the choir’s favourite hymn. The sermon, which was meaningful but with a touch of humour, included a piano interlude by one of the students and concluded with the boys singing the verse which is the embodiment of the Christian faith –

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless,
Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave thy victory?
I triumph still if Thou abide with me.

Dr Harrriet Harris the chaplain made everyone welcome and students, boys, parents and staff all joined together following the service for an excellent supper provided by the college.

Another proud moment for Elstree.
