Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ makes up a Roald Dahl trilogy for the Elstree Middle School Plays with ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2014) and ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ preceeding this most famous of Dahl’s books.  Many of us know the story, but last night we were treated to a really spectacular show by the Year 5 and Year 6 boys.

The play, written by Mr Livermore, had a wonderful feel-good factor to it, with some great songs to get those feet taping! From Aretha Franklin, to ELO, to Queen and the Bay City Rollers, and of course Pure Imagination beautifully sung by Willy Wonka himself.

From the seventy-five strong cast there were Oompa Loompas and narrators galore. The costumes and make up were edgy and cool and really helped the boys inhabit their characters. They all looked fantastic! The set was vibrant and colourful –  what fun it was to see Augustus Gloop going up the chocolate pipe!

Well done to all the boys and thank you to all who helped put on a fantastic show!
