Nursery visit Bucklebury Farm Park

As the annual Nursery trip to Bucklebury Farm Park loomed, the children were enormously excited about… Miss Thornburrow driving them on the bus!   Luckily there was also great anticipation for their visit to the farm.  The day had arrived and the weather was glorious.

On arrival we were met by our two-legged friend Amy who was to be our guide for the day and Esme the alpaca with her beautiful baby Emily.  The children fed cheeky goats, Primrose the donkey, ponies, calves and pigs.  They were then treated to time to meet some amazingly calm and friendly animals;  Biscuit and Marty the guinea pigs, a super soft rabbit called Archie, a tiny little mouse and a fabulous tortoise called T-Rex.

After the challenge of Woody’s Leap and some lunch it was time for the long-awaited tractor ride.  As bumpy as ever the tractor took us up to see the deer.  Francis, the new dominant red stag was in fine voice grunting and chasing throughout our visit.  As one child said on our return, ‘He scares the man deers away from the lady deers!’

To end the day, a little time on the playground and slides could not be missed.  The children played beautifully and were a huge credit to the school.  This trip was a wonderful way to increase their excitement about animals even further and extend their already good knowledge of animal families.
