Chapel Choir sing at Bath Abbey

“Please come again!”

When a choir director hears these words from cathedral staff at the end of a visit they breathe a sigh of relief- it means the service has gone well and the choir have done a good job.  This was the case when we made our annual trip to sing choral evensong in Bath Abbey just before half-term.  This event is always one of the highlights of the choral year and the Chapel Choir prepares hard to learn the required music.  The large group of boys behaved excellently, sang their hearts out, watched like hawks and enjoyed both the burgers / sausages at the service station on the journey down and the ice-creams  in Bath in the break between rehearsals and service.

The sun shone, the Abbey looked magnificent and the boys in their uniform attracted a lot of attention from overseas tourists as well as receiving favourable comments from the general public on their good manners.  The congregation was the largest we have sung to in this venue and the boys proved themselves to be competent and well-disciplined.

Now it is time to dust off the carol sheets…!
